Nominees for AMAA 2024 announced
The Africa Film Academy has unveiled the 2024 Africa Movie Academy Awards nominees.
During a press briefing held at the Sheraton Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, the organisers announced the nominations for the prestigious event, which will celebrate its 20th edition under the theme ‘Celebrating African Creativity.’
Founded by Peace Anyiam-Osigwe in 2005, the Africa Movie Academy Awards Promote African filmmaking excellence under the Africa Film Academy. It annually celebrates industry professionals and is renowned as the premier award in African cinema.
The inaugural 2005 ceremony in Yenagoa, Nigeria, set the stage for subsequent editions predominantly hosted until the first international event in 2015.
Leading the pack in this year’s edition is Uche Okocha’s Nigerian film, The Weekend, with 16 nominations, followed by Femi Adebayo’s Jagun Jagun, which garnered seven nods.
The highly anticipated awards ceremony is organized in collaboration with the Lagos State government, and will take place on November 2 in Lagos.
